PAAC PROGRAM CONTINUES TO BE POPULAR

Nineteen students participated in the November class entitled "Perishable Materials" offered in the ongoing Program for Avocational Archaeological Certification, Kevin Black, Assistant Colorado State Archaeologist, taught the class on the identification and importance of perishable materials as archaeological evidence, Topics such as classification, deterioration, methods of preservation and stabilization were covered. As usual the class was excellent, as evidenced by the continually growing number of participants. Mark your calendars now for the next offering in the series, "Principles of Archaeological Excavation", from March 31 to April 2, 2000 in Alamosa. This class will help prepare you for the excavation opportunities available this summer. For more information on the PAAC program please contact Loretta Mitson at 843-5328 or 589-6740  --  Loretta Mitson
